R-12a refrigerant

Does anyone have experience (or even a reasoned opinion) on R-12a. Supposed to be a drop in replacement for R-12, more efficient, less prone to very small leaks, economical, and available.
The con is; flammable and even explosive (but then so is a tank full of gas).\

Hi,

I have used what I believe is a similiar product for many years, called Ecofreeze 12A.
It is a gas similar to propane gas, and works very well. Cooling is better than R12 and
has a number of advantages when compared to R12 as well as R134.
Comes in handy with the summer temperatures with have here in Spain inland.
I ‘ve used it in R107, W111 and W124 with great results.
The gas is compatible with both mineral and synthetic AC oils, so it can be used with either R12 or R134.
For best results vacume the system before filling up, but works well when used to charge up non emptied systems with remaining R12 or R134 in it.
Another effect is that it runs on lower pressure on the high side, resulting in less wear on the compressor and other components.

I just charged my 250 SL's A/C system with a product called Enviro-Safe Industrial 134A Refrigerant.  The supplier (Enviro-Safe) is in Illinois. The description of this product is the same as hkollan  described for the Ecofreeze 12a. I did not investigate the Ecofreeze 12a product.

All I can say about the Enviro-Safe Industrial 134A Refrigerant is...... WOW!  My system cools better than I have seen with R-12.  I purchased a 20# jug of Industrial 134a since I have several older vehicles presently charged with R-12.  Much better pricing on a $$/# basis and the jug has a nice shut-off valve so you don't have waste like from a partially used can dispenser.  If anyone is interested in this product, be sure that you specify "Industrial"; it reportedly cools better than the ES-134a product.  Oh.... the Industrial 134a charge is 1/3 of the amount of R-12 needed.  In other words...if you need 1# of R-12, you would only use 0.33# of Industrial 134a.
