2015 Vintage Mercedes Benz StarDrive Poland

Prior to our local SL Pagoda annual gathering, six of our members participate in the 2015 Vintage Mercedes Benz StarDrive.
Artur, Alligator, Samamer, Pawel and Marcin among others as well as yours truly were invited by the event organisers and will proudly expose our shiny cars.  

This is a 4 days event that includes a full day rallye (on Friday), concours d'elegance followed by a night event with price award ceremony, dining and dancing (on Saturday) and other activities. The headquarters of the event are set in Lodz, a city in central Poland in a renovated XIX former textile factory.

Here we are: Vintage Mercedes cars gather at the Manufactura Center parvis.

Weather is superb: solid sunny days for the rest of the week.

Today we had a street drive appearance and concours d'elegance. An interesting experience under bright sun and the temperature up to 32oC (95F)

PS. Was that a old steam turbine with generator and boiler in the background on one of the photos? Do you have a close up picture?

The machine behind is a steam engine that provided energy to textile machines in the industrial complex in Lodz. I do not have a close up picture, but remember that it was made in Manchester.

Today this building is a Museum of Textile, quite interesting to my surprise. I didn't expect that pieces of textile could be so catching.

Lodz is in general a quite amazing city. Built during the industrial revolution from scratch it became one of the largest textile European centres, and actually one factory was the largest in the world at the time. New fortunes accumulated by freshly made magnats were phenomenal. All of that resulted - among others - in byzantine palaces, theatres and some other buildings. As the city was not destroyed during the WWII, today the city offers amazing things to visit for those that like the post-industrial climates.

Thanks for getting back to me with such detail. So it must have been a self sufficient (including a boiler) small TurboGen supplying some of the needed power to the plant. Glad to hear the city was not touched by the WWII.
