Now the questions:
Can I still drink Coke?
Can I drink polish?

The next step is to wash with water, let dry and get lots of chrome paint on a rag, wipe over the rust holes to fill in the holes with paint, let dry and get your 0000 steel wool and take chrome paint off chrome but leave in the holes and then cover with a good wax and you can hide much of the rust holes temporarily.

Motor bike guys have been doing that for years on the chrome rims.
