OK, I have this
really nice '68 280SL here. We found that the torque converter was leaking around the rivets so we changed it to the newer style. Then we found that the converter would drain after sitting so we pulled the trans again and replaced the pump. The car wouldn't move from engine start for about 20 seconds until the convertor filled back up!
No leaks now, pulls like a freight train right from cold, so it's ready to go home.........not quite yet.
Although the trans had problems before all of this fiddling around it always shifted perfectly. Now it won't shift into high gear. I think it will one time from cold but after that it stays in third gear. I found a wire off last week and put it back on, figured I had it sorted out, didn't get a chance to drive the car again until today and it's doing it again.
I'm not really hearing the kick down linkage clicking like I think it should. It' moving, but not with a lot of force. Modulator linkage is moving freely and not tight. Trans is up shifting but kick down is not working and I don't want to rev it that high. I had it up to 4,500 > RPM and it still wouldn't shift.
Anyone have a pic of the wiring harness on the trans? Something tells me that's where the problem is.
