Another 'what is this' moment...
« on: November 04, 2015, 07:59:52 »
I have two more bags of unknown parts, the first is this clip which was laid in the glovebox of the car when I got it, I don't know if this is Mercedes or something else. I suspect it may be random as the fixing screw has a philips slot in the head whereas nothing else on the car has a fastener like this, any thoughts?

The second item I can't recall, there are two setscrews around 2" long and a couple of aluminium spacers with an angle on one end. There was nothing written on the bag so either I was in a hurry, couldn't find a pen, or didn't know what they were from....I seem to recall the heater core maybe having some bushes, could that be what these are from?

I think the first item is to clamp the fuel injection lines together for proper spacing.

I agree with the injector line clamp. Could the second be a spacer for a front license plate?

Its not the 2 line clamp of the injection lines.
I must admit it looks a bit like it though.
Also it looks like one half is threaded ?

First baggie is a clamp set from a Japanese make car.
Second baggie looks to be a custom license plate bracket set, believe front bumper.

The clamp is not from the injector lines, I'm pretty sure of that as all the lines round the engine looked like they hadn't been touched in years and it was pretty obvious nothing was missing from them, I'm with Walt that it is some errant part. The other bits could well be from a license plate, there were none on there when I got the car.

I'll file them in the WTF pile.

On the clamp that isn't a German bolt.  Definitely Asian and most likely Japanese.

The clamp looks like part of the static suppression kit that came with Becker short wave radios.
The clamp was for connecting a grounding cable to the oil pressure and temp gauge tubes outside the firewall grommet.
