Hello All,

I took the stripped hard top plus :evil: the hubcaps to the paint shop today. They declined to do the hubcaps, as they are concerned that the paint will not stick and do not want the liability. I now plan to paint them my self. Does any know where I can purchase a spray can that matches the Mercedes Color? I thought I saw a suplier that did that some time ago but I lost the URL.

 I would prefer to use a spray can than break out the paint gun.

Daryl,

www.paintscratch.com can match any DB color.  Also, I have the special tool for painting hubcaps.  I plan to bring the tool to the Tech Session in Columbus Ohio in June.  If anyone is planning on attending the Tech Session and wants to paint their hubacaps, bring a can of paint and your new hubcaps and we can have an arts & crafts session.

i think you can get factory paint in spray cans from the dealer, no?

Good idea Tom,
I have the spray equipment and some correct primer for the stainless or chrome wheelcovers. Maybe we can demonstrate painting one with the tool and one by masking to show the difference in results. I have plenty of used wheel covers to experiment with.

I have ordered the paint from Paint scratch. I E-mailed them about the primer and the responded immediatly to add in the comment section to indicate the adhesion promoter needs to be in the primer. I am still not sure if I will come for the June session in Columbus, it depends on my progress with the car, but if I am there I will have hubcaps and paint in hand.. I know I will be in trouble with Mary if I am not there to deliver some GA peaches. I started replacing the heater hoses....... the hoses were so rotten the cam into pieces as I tried to remove them.
