There are three marks that we often refer to on 113 engines. Top dead center on the crank shaft, the notch on the cam shaft, and the small mark on the ignition distributor housing.
All of these marks must be lined up in order for the engine to be in time and then start. First thing is to time the cam shaft to the the crank shaft at TDC. Once you have that then you can time the distributor to the other two.
Normally, I encourage people to try things and learn as they go.
This may not be something you should try if you don't have the basic skills. I say this as someone who was more or less self taught over a period of many years - one never stops learning or making mistakes for that matter. The cost of learning can be far higher than having someone do it for you if you miss something. However, if you're handy around engines then we can walk you through it. It's not impossible but it's not easy either.
