Picture of the Service Booklet
« on: February 13, 2016, 18:44:38 »
Hello!

I am looking for a picture of a service booklt to see how the VIN number was punched on it.

I am sure I saw it somewhere. I searched Forum with "service booklet", but found no picture.... I bought a blank service booklet repro on e-bay and I would like to have the VIN done.

Does anyone have a picture of a service boooklet with VIN punched?

Best regards,
Paweł

Interesting question. I would have sworn the same thing. I just checked through my stash of service books (the small one with the sedan or coupe on the cover, correct?) These are all used ones, in various states of completion, and none of them have the VIN punched. I even have several with the plastic cover and the small metal card used for service work, but no punched numbers.

Not sure if this is what you are typing about. But I did have the "Owner's Service and Warranty Policy" - Passenger Cars - Tourist booklet, it is dated 9/69. Not for a 113, but stamped for a 108. This booklet describers the overall set-up for service and warranty, not the full service plan booklet.

In any case, the VIN is stamped at the top of the booklet and goes through all the pages, four pages, plus front and back covers.

Thank you!

I think this may give an idea on how it looked like - it could have been that other boklets were punched in the same way. I have asked a friend of mine for his booklet, maybe he has on estamped - if I have it, I will post it.

Where could I see the picture I found some time ago.... I have an excellent memory, it is just a bit short....

Well, I figured that the place I might have seen the booklet was e-bay. Just looked through current postings there and I found just one similar to one showed by Jonny B (attached). All other ones  for years 1967 - 1970 (my car is 1970) are without perforation. I am beginning to wonder if this perforation was a rule through the years or it was abandoned perhaps some time.....

The booklet you show is the same content as the one I have.

The full service booklets (used) that I have cover a wide range of dates, and none of those are punched/perforated.

Thank you! Then it looks like the full service booklets might not have had the stamping....
