Bulkhead drain pipes dimensions
« on: May 30, 2018, 20:14:52 »
Hi all,

Does anyone have the outside diameter of the drain pipes that pass through the bulkhead?  Mine are missing and I would like to reinstate them.  Also, am I correct to assume they are steel?

Hi Steven -

Having had problems with the drain pipes clogging up a few years ago - I investigated the dimensions - just have to get them from my notebook at the garage - will send a message tomorrow with OD and ID of them (the steel sections) as well as the rubber sections that connect the upper steel section to the lower drain section,

Cheers,

Chris Zeiss

Thanks Chris.

I guess they aren't off the shelf items.  I couldn't see them in the SLS shop.

If these are the pipes you are referring to the inside is 13mm the outside is 16mm.  The right one (seated in drivers seat) curves toward the frame rail and the left one is straight. The left one carries a rubber ball style check valve that keeps water being pushed back up the tube.  I assume the right doesn’t have the ball because it is too close to the exhaust.  The left one projects 40mm from the bulkhead on the engine side and both are 50mm from the bulkhead on the interior side.

Spot on, thank you.

This is exactly the detail I was after.  Now to speak to metal supplier to see if he can get me some tubing...

Also, I believe I need to look at adding a drain hole for the soft top compartment.

There is a drain on either side that has a rubber tube that drops the water inside the rear wing.  If these tubes are deteriorated or placed in the wrong the area under the rear wooden shelf will fill up with water.

The top drain is installed right in the forward outboard corner of the well.  The tube is there to show what it looks like.  The second shot shows how the tube is routed down and through the hole in the pillar which keeps the water out of the interior. Left is up in the second photo.

Is there a part number for the drain hose?  I found it on SLS and Authentic Classics but no part number.

There is: N073411016000. Order by a meter. You need less than a meter.
There are also clamps (4xA0059970190), but you will use the proper ones I am sure.
There is also this ball valve A1108310132 and EPC says you need 2 of them (!). But in MB they cost about $50 a piece, so perhaps better to get them from SLS.

All these parts are in Heating and Ventilation  :). Drain hoses and clamps are not on the picture, but they are in the parts list.

Pawel66, I am referring to the drain hose shown in Shvegel's first picture, the one in the corners of the soft top compartment.  This is not sold be the metre.

No, this one is not by the meter: A1137790078. It is NLA. I am not 100% sure, but they may replace it with A1077790078, which is same purpose hose.

1077790078 is the same hose as the original 113 hose only a bit longer.  Probably better for keeping the water out of the interior anyway.  It also works for the tube you run the fuel pump wires through when they go through the floor of the trunk.
