Does Mercedes -Benz still have a program where by you tell them your key code and they can order a new lock for your car? I have a still passenger door lock and I am affraid it might have to be replaced however can I get it rekeyed by an independent or can I order the lock through Mercedes-Benz with my serial number and key code does this also apply to the gas cap?

Hello Bob,
What makes you think you may need a new lock? Are you planning on replacing the whole handle and lock?

Bob--call our friend Tom Hanson.  With his help I got the proper keys for everything, they were quick and relatively inexpensive.  In some cases I gave the VIN and in other cases the key code when I had non-original parts.  He's there to help.
