Hood support rod/arm

I need to replace the hood support rod on my 1970 W113. Rod appears to be weakened and hood will not stay up. Are these available from MB or other supplier? If so, what is the part number?
Thanks.

You might want to check your plastic fixationplate first , they wear out over time.

Before you try to remove the old spring lever, search the forum for the how-to threads. There are good descriptions on how to protect both the hood (bonnet) and your knuckles.

Thanks to all. I think I'll try replacing the fixation plate first. Very much appreciated.

You can also rotate the fixation plate 180 degrees. Both ends are identical and the rod will now have the un-worn detent from the other side to travel on.

I have a used fixation plate together with the bracket that is welded to the inner fender. Came from a wrecked 1970 280SL that was an engine donor for a '69 that was my driver in '71-2. $25 including Priority Mail to US. Inquire for postage elsewhere. Jon

Tyler, thats the first thing I did on mine when i first got the car. It made the hood stand up. Prior to that it was a bit hit or miss.
