Door check strap function on the W111 coupe
« on: March 17, 2016, 22:29:44 »
Anybody knows how the door check strap works on the W111 coupe?
In the door it appears there is only a slot that the strap goes into (EPC doesn't show anything else) without any roller or some spring. My straps appear to be hinged inside the fender and they do not do their job. Should they be bolted solid inside the fender so they restrict the door motion through their own elasticity?

Thanks,
Radu

I'm pretty sure I saw a white plastic roller in there when I was doing my first in-depth inspection of my car, someone elsewhere posted that you often need to re-tighten the bolts on the strap as they tend to sag due to the weight of those long doors over time.
