Two-way valve

Attached is a photo of a two-way valve on right side of photo. It has two vacuum hoses and a electrical connector. both vacuum hoses have been cut and have no idea where they go to. Who ever worked on this car felt that it would run better with the hoses cut but I would like to reconnect it when I start the rebuild. Thanks for any and all help'

I have have that on my 1970280SL and its part of the emissions control and it adjusts the timing.  One end goes to the intake manifold port. the other end goes to the vacuum retard on distributor.   Someone probably bypassed it just like I did.

If they bypassed it they must have drilled a new port of the throttle body lower down. If you use this two way valve you have to hook it up to the port thats on the upper side of the intake manifold.  The difference is that if you use this value it requires vacuum all the time.  If its been bypassed then the vacuum line from distributor to intake manifold should be connected to the port on the lower / bottom of the intake manifold throttle body.

I see the vacuum line from distributor to throttle body. Then really don't need to put it back on the car then.

yes. Personally i would leave it disconnected as long as prior person has vaccum line hooked up to lower part of throttle.

The vacuum line from the throttle body always goes to the center port on the switch over valve. Even new MB cars are set up this way. I would not play around with the throttle body trying to make something happen when it was never designed to work that way.

Yes the correct thing would be to put it back to original assuming all the temp sensors and electronics still work.
