Febi/Billstien front anti-sway bar kit.
« on: June 25, 2016, 12:23:06 »
Factory part is pushing 200 USD and the Bilstien kit is about 35USD. Normally their stuff is pretty good but this kit is horrid. Stock stuff on top and Bilstien on the bottom.

Just for clarification, there are two companies, unrelated, with a Bilstein name connection.

Febi is the shortened version of the name Ferdinand Bilstein.  They make many parts for cars, some of high quality and some that do not seem to be the best.  Not sure, but I think it is a family owned company.

Another company makes the Bilstein shock absorbers.  According to the shock absorber company's website, "BILSTEIN became a division of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG in 1988, and a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2005."  ThyssenKrupp is a huge conglomerate with headquarters in Germany.

This has been on the Audiworld forum website for some time:

http://www.audiworld.com/forums/audi-100-a6-c4-platform-24/so-whats-wrong-picture-chinese-febi-bilstein-2147582/

The box says made in China; the part has Germany stamped on it.  It is interesting to see Febi's explanation.  Just scroll to the 4th post.

I've found that if you buy off of the internet this what you sometimes get. The price alone should be an indication of quality - not always, but it often is.

I buy all of my stuff from an OE warehouse distributor. It may cost more but I have few if any call backs that way.

Hi,
this Febi Bilstein kit costs 15€ here in Germany, the same Meyle kit costs 13€ for both sides. 19€ for a nomame product at a reliable vendor.
What can you expect from these prizes? Nobody in Europe or the US can produce these parts for this prize.

I think the kit you are showing is not for a w113 hence it looks so different.   I believe it fits other Mercedes models such as the 107's or 115's.
