Power Steering Pump spindle play query
« on: August 06, 2016, 17:03:02 »
Hi all,

I just replaced all the seals on my power steering pump (250SL), however I have noticed there is about 4mm of in/out play on the spindle.  Can anyone confirm if this is correct? It maybe that I haven't tapped the sleeve in far enough.

Regards

I've noticed some end play on almost every pump I've looked at so I think it's normal. As long as it works and doesn't leak, why ask why?

Hi Dr Benz,

Basically making sure I have rebuilt it correctly. It was in a terrible state prior to me stripping, cleaning it up and replacing all the seals.

Thanks for your response.
