Today I attended a car show - when it was time to leave I started the car up and as I was driving away I realized I left my folding chair - so I stopped the car - turned it off - rescued the folding chair and started the car back up - bingo - vapour lock - car wouldn't run very well - wanted to stall - I had to keep feathering the gas and finally we got home. It was a bit embarrassing.
This happened to me once before when I turned the car off after backing it out of the garage and turning it on again right away.
Question - is this a typical symptom of vapour lock and what can I do to release it so I can get the car home without sputtering and snorting and dying? It took almost 3 hours of sitting before the car would start again and run fine. Is there a quick fix to this to get the car running normal again to get home?
I've gone through the archives and I can't see the answer to my question.
Gas fresh, fuel pump less than 1,000k on it, fuel delivery 1 gallon / minute, battery fully charged, no pressure build up at gas cap when I release it etc.
