Fuel vents into trunk
« on: August 31, 2016, 12:01:08 »
While dismantling the car I am just about have the fuel tank ready for removal and while disconnecting fuel lines I noticed that the vent is inside the trunk. That's not normal is it?

No, it's not. US-version 280 I guess. There is the vapor tank missing.
Please see here to understand the system:

I have a US version 1970 280SL and it has the tank in the trunk. Yours appears to be missing. It is part of the emissions system on the later US models. They are quite expensive to purchase one if you can find them.
