I know them both and both are excellent. Paul Russell specializes in Pebble Beach Concours quality restorations - typically for exceedingly rare and valuable cars. They also typically have extraordinarily long backlog of projects. He is, arguably, the pre-eminent restorer of important cars. Gernold Nisius probably knows more about SL113s than anyone on the planet. It is the virtually the only car he works on and he knows EVERYTHING about them.

Paul is charming, polite, soft spoken. Gernold is direct, blunt, and GERMAN. I really like them both. (Gernold worked on my 280SL in a previous life.)

Another (VERY BUSY) knowledgeable NE restorer is Mark Allen, formerly with Paul Russell. His shop is in Massachusetts/New Hampshire near Paul Russell.
