I am replacing the original steering wheel on our '71 280SL, however the main nut holding the wheel to the steering column seems to be frozen tight. There is even something on the nut that looks like a dab of paint, perhaps applied at the factory. It looks like its never been touched. Has anyone had experience on the best way to remove this nut? Is it just a matter of a good long socket wrench for maximum leverage and brute force? Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks!
