Engine bay paint question
«
on:

I'm about to have my 230sl completely repainted including engine bay. Was the original engine bay paint finish from the factory the same shine and such as body? I've seen some other cars where the paint in the engine compartment was not as shiny as the body.
Thanks

Found my own answer. Didn't find anything before I posted the question then found an old post on this subject. It always seems to work that way. The conclusion of that thread was that the engine bay was the same exact paint as the body just not buffed and such.
Thanks

Hello,
Yes, that's correct. Body color without polishing. For single-stage paints it is pretty flat, not buffed for sure.
Metallic paints (e.g. DB 180 silver) did not carry a clear coat.
Which color is yours?
