How to remove intake manifold?
« on: March 31, 2017, 22:46:40 »
Hi All.

I am restoring my car, removing and cleaning bits from the engine but have come across a problem.

I thought the intake manifold would be obvious to remove, but cant see how it is attached to the engine block.  Is it bolted from the inside?

Can anyone advise the best way to remove it?

Thanks

Mark.

Mark, it is only bolted to the cylinder head. Remove the aluminum heat shield first. You will then see most of the 14mm head lock nuts holding the intake to the cylinder head. There is some engine plumbing you will need to disconnect also. A ratchet with extension and socket works well. A socket with universal joint or a wobble extension makes a bit easier.
