280 Late block early head....

Hi guys . I am trying to help a friend remotely . He is telling me he has a late 280sl block with a early head . Car does runs lean no mater what we do
Would the car run with this nissmatch?

No. I ended up with the wrong head gasket set once on an early engine ( late head set ) and it burned through the gasket filling the crank case full of coolant. I can't imagine you would want to try it and find out the hard way.  Just sayin'.

The early head will not work on the late block and vice versa. A bad barometric compensator can cause a permanent "lean" condition. Low fuel pressure can also cause lean running.
