2 pin flasher relay?

So I have done the 4 pin to 3 pin conversion on my other pagodas but I am stumped on this one.  It is a 1970 280sl  and EXACTLY where the flasher relay should be there is a 2 prong connector attached to this relay.  I have my guru parts guy look up the number and his database has a picture and states vintage Mercedes part but no description and none available nor any retro number.  Is this the flasher relay?  My blinkers and flashers are not working.  I see one on ebay but seller away so cannot ask if this is for the blinkers/flashers.   I am thinking this is bad because when I shake it i can hear something rattle inside.  Is there a replacement part or can I retrofit a part?

PS there was not another lead where that metal is I tried to get it open thinking that was a screw, but now i think that was just where they punch it to fit.

Sorry, but is it not a flasher relay like one used often in motorcycles? It is wired in series between power supply and switch (whichever the 30 and 31b are - I do not remember these numbers from convention). You may want to verify this so that you do not blame me if your car burns down, but all you need to make it a 3 pin is to ground the third pin on the normal 3 pin sender... I think the two connections 30 and 31b shold be one to fuse and the other to switch...

It is No. 12 on the attached. Maybe do not look for it, just make it 3 pin, no?

That is a late style flasher. The wiring is a bit different in that the pilot lamps on the dash are wired in with the turn signals. A standard run of the mil flasher will work. You can mod it to fit the existing plug. This is what you get if you order a flasher from the classic center, a hella flasher with a small harness and correct plug.
Leave the third pin open. Do not ground it.  See flasher pic below with mod wires.

I stand corrected we took that cylinder apart and cleaned it and now it works...IT IS THE #22 WARNING BUZZER  for all future reference. Scared the Bejesus out of us we connect it and that buzzer starts hit my head against the dash bottom thinking something was going to explode.  So I did find the 3 prong pigtail and wires stuck way up in the dash, like years ago someone took the relay out to fix, never put it back and shoved the wires out of the way.  CRAZY what PO do.
