Tire recommendations for 2013 ML350 4Matic
« on: May 16, 2017, 17:17:47 »
My wife's 2013 ML350 4Matic needs new tires at 23K. She has the original set of Continental Cross Contact LX Sport 255/50 R19's.

Any recommendations from members on other tire choices that may wear and ride better than the Continentals? I've had good luck with Michelin and Pirelli tires on many cars over the years.

Also, where are the best sources for tires these days?  I've bought from TireRack in the past.  I also heard to avoid Costco because they buy a lot of old stock tires to add to their inventory.

Thanks!  Nate

I have the original Michelin tires on my 2014 E350.  I don't remember what model they are.  The car has 35k on it but I had winter tires on for 6k miles.  I still can probably get through to another 5k-10k miles out of them...

Nate, I would hardly believe that Costco keeps enough of anything around long enough to worry about age...but, if you have a concern you should read this:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11

Many of the tire places will match prices, so go where you feel comfortable. Firestone? Goodyear? Pep Boys? There's a lot to choose from. Tire wear is subject, as you know, to many factors. A chat with Tire Rack may be informative as to finding a tire that will wear better, and they will send the tires to a certified installer in your area.

My own suggestion is to find a tire installer or dealer that has a Hunter GSP9700 road force balancer. You can find one in your are by going here: http://www.hunter.com/gsp9700

I like the Michelin Latitude Sport 3.  It's way better than the Pirelli tires I had.
