The plastic of my turn signal switch came apart broken
« on: October 22, 2017, 10:14:35 »
Hi all,

th plastic of my '71 280SL came apart broken the other day. Price of a new switch is quite high. Is there any known way to repair / replace these switches at a reasonable price, even if not fully original?

Thanks for sharing any experieence you may have in this regard!

Gael:  I have several 108 assemblies; I know they are similar but don't interchange directly.  Perhaps one could be modified?  Anyone know?  Jon

I saw a W108 the other day and noticed that the switch indeed looked similar to the Pagoda one. But I wonder what it would take to make it work. Any experience on that from forum members would be gratly welcome!

See if my earlier work to adapt a W108 switch helps:

I looked through EPC, but W113 switches are both only to W113. The ones for 108, 109, 114, 115 - were installed in most of these models each of them, but ours are dedicated, both of them.

GGR,
Try looking at the early W108 sedans for the same end pieces.
The long pipe is different(length), but the end cap with the 2 speed wiper is the same.
Mind the long metal rod that secures the plastic end to the pipe, that's the cue to look for.
Just saw one 1966 250S sedan at the Baltimore Junkyard last weekend.  Looked at it, but the hold feature was all worn out.

I believe the chrome metal stalk is larger diameter on W108. There is a new one on eBay for $440.
