window seal repair advice

so i pulled the interior panel off my driver's side door of my 1968 250sl to replace a broken door lock above the window crank. all that went well so i have decided to replace the rubber/felt/ ??? things at the top of the window channel in hopes of cutting down on window rattle. it looks pretty simple to unclip them but where do i find info if that is the correct way to get started. more importantly, if i do get them off, where do i find replacements? also feel free to let me know if my thinking is wrong about prying them off "clips".   thanks, billy bob

They do just 'slide' off with some force. I believe new ones are available from various suppliers. SLS in Hamburg for example seems to sell the (I think they're called) 'whiskers' by the meter, or as a pre-cut set together with new clamps.

I recommend getting the 'whiskers' from MB original, although even they are slightly different than the orignal ones from the production days. The cheaper version of the repro parts offered by SLS and others are more or less worthless even if the price is tempting. The OEM-like version they offer is better/thicker but still not quite right.
While you're in there, I would also suggest to thoroughly check all the glued glass guides and plastic guides. Their failure is usually the cause for rattling windows.

You might first want to check if the guides are present and well adjusted....
