removing air vents from dash

Trying to remove the chrome dash air vents from dash and having trouble doing it. What I can see inside the dash is two posts. Do I pry these vents from the dash.

I did find this to be a delicate, difficult process.  Hard enough that, a year later, I still haven't gotten around to doing the passenger-side vent!

Yes, you have to pull the vents away from the dash on top where the two studs are and also unhook it at the bottom.

Thanks for the info. Someone must have tried to pull it out because I have one stud broken on the right air vent

I had a broken stud as well.

I found a piece of steel rod at approximately the same diameter and epoxied it to the vent casting. Slid in just fine and is holding well.

Found the short cut to removing those chrome vents. Since these vents have most likely been in the dash since coming off the assembly line, so to get to them, I removed the ducting that goes to the vents by taking a pair of needle nose vice grips and back the screw from the top of the dash board to duct, then a drift punch to knock out the screw from the anchor nut without damaging the screw or anchor nut, then remove the duct and you will have clear path to remove the vent. I then used WD40 to lube the post on the vents and then an 8 inch socket extension and a hammer to pop them loose from inside the dash.
