Schloss Dyck
« on: July 31, 2017, 17:03:52 »
A number of Pagodas and Pagoda SL Group members have a small impromptu presence at Schloss Dyck.

We have a small gathering in the "Cherry Lane Picnic area" on the 5th and 6th of August. Do come and visit us if you are visiting Schloss Dyck.

A small, but select crowd gathered at Schloss Dyck for a Pagoda SL Group gathering. For some photographs see this link: Google Photo's.

More photos to come when resident photographer Martijn has processed his. In attendance were 114015 from Germany, Jonny B from the US, Paladin and Dolly from the UK, Brian in NL but who's originally from the US, and Martijn, JJD and Lia and Peter and Karin from the Netherlands.

On Saturday it rained until about 13:00 and after that cleared up. Luckily we had a BBQ and enough food and drink to keep us busy...

The Classic Days event is awesome, and is also known as the German Goodwood Revival. Great selection of cars, no real racing but a demonstration track where classic cars, old motorbikes, flocks of Bentley's, Group B rally cars, Classic formula Ford and Volkswagen racers could be enjoyed. The beautiful cars in the Legends collection were being judged, and the parking place is a huge carfest with clubs gathering together.

JJD organised a tent and a picnic area for us in the middle of the track, close to all the action. The tent was very useful with the rain that we had. JJD had organised large pictures of the Merano event, the last PUB, and the factory assembly line. He had them printed on PVC, which looked really good and professional. He sold the assembly line picture to a Mercedes 600 owner (it is on the assembly line next to our W113's), and Jonny B is looking into shipping the photographs to Virginia to be used at the PUB Virginia.

Again, it goes to show our group is alive and doing well. If we do this again, now we know much better what to expect and we could try to advertise it a little bit bigger on the forum to get people to join!

It Rained so much on Saturday, I thought we were back in Wales ! so I went to Meilenwerk in Dusseldorf, a renovated Railway Turntable house, devoted to Classic Car Renovation.

These are just CAR pictures from this and Schloss Dyck - no people here !

Meilenwerk, Duesseldorf looks like a must for the bucket list, Paul.  Some very nice....and pricey machinery!  I think the Porsche 218 tractor is about the only thing pictured that is in my price range!  :)

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Hi Ralph,

I was also at the Millenwerk (Now named Classic Remise) in Düsseldorf on July 12th last during my Euro Vacation. I took a few photos while there and spotted 5 Pagoda's. The black one was parked in the middle of the isle then disappeared (Plate No, D I 960 H) and near the end of my visit there reappeared. Thus I had a chance to talk to the owner for a bit, he told me the car gas over 1/2 million miles on it and he drives the car every day.

I know Peter does not like me to post links here, I will make an exception and not delete any of the photos from this photo-gallery of mine (at least not in the near future) :) I will post only the Pagoda's in a different thread later as photos so they will not ever disappear.

My parents were born in Düsseldorf and I still have relatives in the city. The visit was also on my Bucket List and now has a big check mark as completed.

You will note that there are small shops attached to different makes of cars were customers have work done. The place is in reality a classic car storage (people that park there don't have space at home for there treasure so it is stored here) and at the same time it is a museum. To park your classic car there costs around 1,000- Euros per month I was told (as can be seen from the photos some of the cars are totally enclosed in a glass cage.

Dieter, I have fond memories of stopovers in Dusseldorf in the 1970s during my working life.  My employer operated a factory and engineering office in Gelsenkirchen and most of my visits there from London and the Middle East were via Dusseldorf.  Your post reinforces my need to add Classic Remise Dusseldorf to my bucket list.  Here is a link in English with information about this facility.

Hi Ger.
Too bad you couldn't make it to this event. It would have been great to meet you. Maybe next year then.
