Drone video from PUB 2017
« on: September 28, 2017, 20:33:21 »
It was great meeting many of you at PUB 2017. Thanks for putting up with my drone while I took photos and videos. Here is a compilation video I made of the event using my drone (DJI Phantom 3 Advanced) and iPhone. I hope you enjoy it. If you do, you may want to download it. I reserve the right to delete it if I need the space.

This was my first PUB and a pure joy to have my son,Fred, fly from Houston to my home near Asheville, NC to join me for the drive to the Virginia PUB.
The 1968 280 SL is truly a legacy car. My father purchased it used in 1972 for $4.500 and he passed it on to me in 1987. One day my son, Fred, will the proud owner.
Great video Fred!!

Thanks Dad! I had a great time and I know we will talk about this for years to come. I learned so much about these cars. I'd rather have my Dad than the car but you know when the time comes I will take good care of it.

Fred,

Thanks for the video, nice aerial shots of all the cars.  I enjoyed it.

Why was there a 190sl in the front of the aerial photo shoot??  Didn’t quite understand that part?

forgive him his trespasses, but Jim Villers may have forgotten it was a Pagoda meet, not a 190. Guess he just got into the wrong car...

I tried a few years ago with an E Type Jaguar in the middle of the Pagoda circle at PUB in Ohio. Mine was for a joke, I thought it may have been the same thing ;D ;D ;D

Yes it was a Pagoda meet, but the 190SL was absolutely gorgeous. Any one looking to bring their car to Concurs level, this was a fine example of a car.

We had planned to put on a heritage display at the circle with all of the SL models.

We invited a 300sl to attend and they said yes but did not show.  We invited Jim Villers to bring his 190sl.

The other SL's did not come so we ended up with just one heritage car to display-which was Jim's, and grateful for him bringing the car as it is a Concours contender.

The drone footage is a great souvenir of the event.  :) Thanks for posting.

The 190SL was lovely and I enjoyed seeing it there!

DPreston, I did talk to Jim Villers, president of the 190sl group at Virginia PUB, about possibly doing something together with them.  He said he would be open to having a few (5-10)  Pagoda's attend one of their conventions to see what it's like, see how they do things, and how everyone would get along, and then taking it from there.  From what I understand they have a week long social type convention and a three day "deep dive" technical convention every year.

Something to think about.   If anyone's interested they can form a thread here and contact Jim Villers.

Just go to the international 190 SL group website and you can read all about the upcoming convention next week and plenty of past ones.

Jim also owns a Pagoda, is a long time supporter of our group, and has presented at least 3 "Drivability" tech sessions at PUBs.  It was a lovely photo opportunity with the 190 and Jim graciously moved it for our official photos.

Thanks for sharing your video Fred.
