Pagoda Sales
« on: September 02, 2017, 16:41:44 »
I have shown below an email from Gus Kidonakis of Beverly Hill Motors in Houston.  He sold a Pagoda on Bring a Trailer this week for a client for $161,000.  He has doen three cars for me and does a great job.

Best regards from soggy Houston.   John

Hello from Houston,

Hope everyone is doing well.

Just a quick update: We were very blessed in that we stayed dry at the shop and our home. We camped out at the shop from Thursday of last week through all of Harvey to make sure everything was okay. The rest of the family also remained dry and safe.

Now, if you have been keeping tabs on the Mercedes - Benz Pagoda market, you can add these data point to your analysis:

Sold November 2015: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-mercedes-benz-280sl-2/

Sold July 2017: http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1971-mercedes-benz-280-sl-12/

Sold September 2017: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-mercedes-benz-280sl-6/

There is also this neat chart on Bring a Trailer: https://bringatrailer.com/mercedes-benz/w113/

Hans,
Gus restored my Pagoda last year.  He's a treasure to us enthusiasts.  I reached out to him during Harvey and was happy to know he and the family were OK. Also, glad to hear it seems you're doing well too.  Now if we could just steer Irma back out to the Atlantic!  We're watching it closely from New Orleans.

Hans and Mario,

Glad to read that Gus was not affected too much and all the Pagoda's in his shop were saved as well. I'm wondering about the rest of the Pagoda's that have been in the pad of Harvey. None of the Texan's have made any comments to my thread.

Perhaps in time some of them will.

My two pagodas are dry. We were lucky. The water reached the top of the street curb and two hours later subsided. Thank God.

I put the hard top on my 280 and evacuated it off the island of Palm Beach to protect it from Hurricane Irma.  It made it through the storm safe and sound in a garage that was 26 feet above sea level (as opposed to my 5 feet at home).  Brought it back home yesterday.  I may even take it for its regular weekend drive tomorrow.

Was there any flooding of Palm Beach?

No flooding.  Sand was pushed up from the beach, but that's all.
