ultimate W113 accessory e-bay

The ultimate for the owner who has everything on his pagoda gift. A hardtop with a sun roof is being auctioned  on ebay for a starting bid of $5000.00 or buy at $8000.00. Item # 4513095519
For that kind of money a little wood around the rear window would be nice!

I was wondering if anyone else had seen this. Wow is pretty much all I can add!

There was also a ski rack listed for the 113 cars, but I did not check it.

For that price one should be able to choose the color.  Also I much prefer the "T" handle to the crank.  With the T all you have to do is twist and pull.  Also looks nicer IMHO!

If I had $8K I'd buy a parts car!

The ski rack however caught my eye, it looks like it's in rough shape.  Can anyone confirm that it is in fact a w113 ski rack?

Had anyone reconditioned one?

This is what's known as a '' fish '' price. Seller puts a great big price on something in the hope that someone will buy it. He'd probably jump at the chance to sell it for half that much.

Ken,

The end of each ski rack has two hinged devices that attach the racks to the metal garnish moldings on the hard top.  These are pretty solid items and generally are in better shape than the hollow chrome bars.  The ends screw onto the bars so they can be removed so that the bars could be refinished.  The ends cannot be refinished, but generally don't need refinishing.

The items on the bars that hold the skis to the rack have some metal grommets that rust, as do the metal clasps.  I think these would be difficult to redo.

Best,

Tom

Thanks, Tom.  I suspect the final price range will push me from bidder to on-looker in short order but it would be an interesting accessory to have.

I guess there goes an exscuse not to lift off the hard top as often as we due. Did anyone notice that the forward handles are from an early 230SL, since they are still attached to the roof?
