Workshop Manual (Again)

Everybody,
I went to the local MB dealer here in Aberdeen (John R Wier). Yes they could get a "data card" for the old girl, no problem, but it will take a few days. ([:p] Ah the Scottish way of doing things)
However when I asked about an "official" workshop manual they said you can't get them any more wether paper, CD or other source. I did say it was refered to as BBB or the blue book.[!]
Anyway is this true or is this a MB Europe thing, UK thing or are they just being thick/don't care/or what? :x

Any "Ammunition" so I can go back to them much appreciated I know it's been mentioned before.......

I would think other wise that the work shop manuals on CD would be a big seller for the classic Center in Fellbach. Perhaps Tom from Caliber motors 1-800-252-6877  can help you he is the Guru of the 60's Benz parts . Even so I see used work shop manuals pop up all the time on E-bay. The classic center in New Jersey is 1-866 622 5277 talk to Manfred.
The part number for the work shop manual on CD for the W113 is P-2700-Ev4000 version 1.0 www.mbusa.com
I did another search on www.thecollection.mbusa.com. Indeed it still shows the body manual, engine and spare parts manual work shop manual all be available as well as the CD Rom for the W113 model.
Part number I got for the service manuals for a 280SL are Ql6510140402 not sure if this helps but they show it as these manuals still being sold.

Technical Literature sold by MBNA, respectively since 1998 MBUSA, in the US was always rewritten for the US market and limited in its content to US models (and also purged of "bonnet" etc.). Therefore, the BBB Big Blue Book is only available in the US and a European dealer would not know what you talk about.

Hi Klaus - I thought there was a European (German) version of the BBB published, or at least I seem to recall seeing them offered from time to time on German Ebay.
The term "BBB" (or Big Blue Book) has not been around for very long. In fact, according to my information, it was coined by a member here (David Pease from California) two or three years ago and 'stuck'. I have the BBB on CD-Rom as well as hardcopy, bought on Ebay for something like $90. I also got the technical data manual for my car from the Classic Center here in Germany. Depending on the year, it is available in English or German, or only German.

The "collection" website refers to manuels for the R113 models -- is that the same as a w113??

Yes W113 is same as R113 The sufix R for roadster relaces The W as the factory desigation.
