280SL head bolt thread size
« on: March 06, 2018, 01:45:13 »
I'd like to clean and chase the block threads before installing the head. I'm told to get all oil out of the block threads , clean the head bolts and then use a light coating of oil to install. Then torque to specs. But I can not find the bolt thread size/pitch. Anyone know?
The machine shop determined that 2 of the guides fell out when the springs were removed. I have ordered oversized guides. I'm hoping this will solve the problem of blue smoke following idle then acceleration. Thanks

You will need an M12 X 1.75 bottoming tap to chase the head bolts in the block.
