Glove box spring

I think I sprung my spring.. My glove box has always closed with "authority" (slam).  I had it out to adjust clock speed.  I accidentally knocked off spring when I was reinstalling the box..I put spring on backwards.. played with it.. off.on..off..on.  Finally got it right and now it is barely holds the door shut.  What experience have others had with the spring?

Anyone have a picture of it properly installed on the box?

The spring should be straight and compressed between the two open mouthed 'spanners'.
Sorry, no picture.

Welcome to the sprung spring club!

I got a lot of help from a posting back in October with the same problem.    Do an exact word search for "glove box door hinge" and it will take you to a posting initiated by LAX882 that has pictures and instructions that helped me.

Good news is that the spring was very inexpensive.

Thank you one and all.. What great group this is.. :)

I won't describe how I had mistakenly assembled the spring (too embarrassed.)

It now works perfectly.' :D '

Dick,  There's no reason to tell me how you mistakenly installed the spring because I tried them all before I consulted this site.
