chrome paint

Does anyone know of a chrome paint that can be used on the plastic louvers on a Frigiking air conditioner?  I am looking  for a paint that is a true shiny chrome, NOT just a silver.  Thanks

I accessed the Eastwood site recommended.  It’s a good thing that I reviewed the comments about the Eastwood “almost chrome” paint.’
A huge majority of end users  Of this prodect theystated there was only a dull silver availble Not shiny!

I once was desperate about it... bought about 15 tins of various paints. Did not find a good one.

I have used spaz stix on my sons pedal car w113 plastic bumpers and as long as your black undercoat is well done then the chome comes out nice....warning you cannot top coat it with any clears otherwise it turns just like silver paint

Is there a particular finish you used for the black under coat(flat, satin,  gloss, etc) before using the spaz stix?

On a side note, the spaz stix would also just rub off if I touched it with my fingers when I tested it. Did you haves the same experience?

Hi Eric, just thought  i would tell you, there is available now,chrome plating on
alot of plastics, i have never used them,but i remember reading or seeing a ad
in Hemmings motor news a while back.
Example i just fitted chrome licence plates to my Pagoda that i purchased last
trip to CA, and im sure they are plastic.   regards.

There is a company in Madison WI that chrome plates plastic. I had my grills chrome plated by them and they turned out beautiful. The problem is they have to be disassembled. The small black knob on the front of the vents has to be taken off and it is very difficult. I managed to get mine off without breaking them, but I can't remember how I did it. I let my dry for a few days and did not have any issues, but to answer your 1st question I used gloss black I don't remember the brand but it was something that was recommended on the model car sites. Remember light chrome coats until it is reflective... Also I have no experience but what about a chrome wrap?

I believe someone here had used this for the grilles on the vents. I am not sure if you would have to disassemble. Certainly worth checking out. Vacuum metalizing has been around forever and is what is commonly done on plastics to make them look like chrome. There are many people who can do that.

I have seen their results on plastic, and it's pretty amazing. Not just chrome, but gold, too. They were, of all things, at a Lego show I took my daughter to some years back. They were showing off shiny chrome, silver and gold Lego bricks done with their process.

It quite accurately mirrored the "vapor deposition" process which is typically used on production jobs for giving plastic a chrome look.

I remember watching the show that did the R8 in the video (WCC doing Noel Lee "Monster Cable" car), and how stressed they were during the application. Was wild to watch, and the result spoke for its self. NOTE, NOT a fan of the show.
