You left just in time.  The "Gilets Jaunes" (Yellow Vests) are out in huge numbers in my area today.  Car on fire, tear gas, water cannons.

Last Saturday when I first got here I walked right into the middle of a protest at Concorde... I got to see the whole thing. Every single taxi driver that I've spoken with seems to be pissed off about the carbon taxes. Being a big fan of diesel engines, I don't like the policy either. However, it must be extremely frustrating to live in a city that shuts down every Saturday.
