I'm looking for suggestions on what these parts might be, thanks. The black part is flat and has foam on one edge. The other part is curved and looks like it attaches to a tube.

The black part is the cover of the (automatic) transmission under the car between engine/transmission

Is the other part not the protector/shield of the steering idle arm bushing (hope I am giving thr right name of what is protected)?

Yes, thanks, good call to both Peter and Pawel. I just found the location of the black part and installed it. Now I'm off to install the other one. This forum is great!
