Dick -- This is excellent...thank you from a fellow North West guy!

As mentioned, I'm going through a lot of improvements to the 280SL now to get it ready for trips just like outlined in our link.  We'll use that info.  From Boise it's a pretty easy drive...an overnight at the Red Lion in Winnemuca, NV, then ease on into quiet Calistoga as a jumping off point for the wine country and beyond.  There are many wonderful roads in Northern Calif. that we need to check out further.  Thanks again for this guide.

Thanks Dick, that's neat. Do I sense a possible Northern Cal. 113 get-together on the horizon?

James -- And if so, might southern Idaho be invited?  Hey, it gets lonely here!

Sounds like a great idea.  I hope someone organizes it and 20 Pagodas show up!

How many Idaho Pagodas do you think there are?  A west coast gathering could be interesting...

Dick -- I've seen a few other W113s around, here & there, now & then.  But I don't get the feeling there are any other real enthusiasts around.  I suspect I'd probably be the only one.

I better speak up before it's too late!  How about a gathering for Northern California, Oregon, Idaho and Nevada?  Call it the NorCOIN Gathering?  Bad name, but could be fun.  Trouble is that the points that are semi-central to NorCOIN are in the middle of nowhere, so maybe NorCal is best?

From Portland it's about a 2-day drive by Pagoda to where Dick and James live (vicinity Grass Valley, CA), I can handle that assuming the dates work out.  From Idaho, down to I-80 and across to Reno gets close.  Maybe some of the SF members would come up to GV?

Dick and James?  If you build it, they will come...

George..
I like your idea of a western get together.  The Sierra Gold Country is a pretty good destination point...
If there is interest I think we can make it happen... What you say James?

I'm crazy about the idea! I couldn't agree more that the area known as the Sierra Gold Country is perfect pagoda driving country. If anyone, near or far, is possibly interested, please jump into the discussion. Like George said -- it is within striking distance from many destinations and a gathering here could easily be part of any number of bigger journeys that include Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, SF or the California & Oregon Coastlines. (And you So. Cal folks... survive the cows on I-5 and your welcome too!)

I am imagining a weekend sometime in late May? Early June? Anyone out there with early questions or ideas can e-mail me anytime.

That site is just perfect! It is such a terrible weather outside that a look on those pictures of the curvy roads and landscapes made me feel much better!
I wonder if there is a similar site for Europe, too? Does some european among us know?

Now there is something I'd be interested in. I'ts a lot easier to drive to Northern California than to sail around Cape Mendicino and Pt. Reyes(it has my name on it) Just wait for the stormy weather to pass. Twice as much rain in L.A. than in Seattle? I thought I'd never hear that.

Hello all. Before we make the Northern California Gathering in the Sierra Gold Country an "official" event, I think its a good idea to hear from anyone who might be interested. Please chime in. Remember, this is NOT limited to those who reside in No. Cal...

You can e-mail me directly if you'd like at jhuber@sierracollege.edu

Include dates that would be ideal for you. And I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about the area (lodging, sidetrips, directions, etc)

Another helpful link for info is  http://www.ncgold.com/

And keep a lookout for the new Topic in Our Events Forum.
