280SL with Manual Transmission
« on: January 25, 2020, 20:05:56 »
I got a 280SL California automatic white over parchment leather. The wife made me do it  >:( ... and now she is not driving it.

It is fun but I concluded that for me it has to be a manual with a soft top . So here is what I am looking for now:

Must have:
- 280SL Manual - 250SL may do it but must be really special, like  5 speed or special rear diff ratio
- It has to be rust free,  no metal cut or replaced
- It has to be original either because is documented or if you have the MB card
- Must have the original color. Preferred color is dark blue or green exterior with parchment or cognac interior. Blue on blue does not do it.
- Weekend driver. Not perfect but meeting the above
- Convertible top

Pluses:
- the MB card
- A/C
- Proper maintenance. Amateur work is a minus; creates more problems
- low miles/good engine / transmission
- Hard top

No-No's:
- Rust, metal cut/replaced
- missing fender welds
- replaced engine/transmission/diff
- California version (no soft top)
- outrageous price

Let me know what you have; send me some notes, pictures, asking price, info to decide. We can consider also a swap but that is more complicated; I would sell mine after getting this manual.

Thanks,
Ovi

Many of the above have been discussed in this forum and can be found using search and in our Technical Manual. However, I believe only our Full Members have access to the complete Technical Manual our Associate Members have access to some areas of our Technical Manual.

I stand to be corrected I was a Associate Member only for a brief time in 2013. I hope you find your Manual.

Dieter

Perhaps try here to find what you need;

Rolf Dieter,

I think he means he wants a Manual vehicle to buy, not the manuals.

Ovi, your wish list is probably the perfect wish list and thus what everyone else wants as well and the only determinant will be how high the price.

Good luck with the search.  It took me two years to find the specific one i wanted.
