Sequence of reassemble
« on: December 16, 2019, 21:59:43 »
Hi friends
My 250sl is ready for reassemble after extensive bodywork.
I have managed to install the engine, auto-transmission, front and rear axles and the heater blower.
Would like to know what order should I follow to assemble the car.
I was thinking of getting the the wiring loom in place.
I would be grateful if anyone could give me a rough idea of order in which the assembly should be carried out.

Well, my advice is already a moot point. I have not done a Pagoda, but when a friend and I restored a 1969 Corvette "body off", we put the wiring harness in as one of the first items into the restored bodyshell BEFORE the powertrain and anything else. This made sure we had enough room and no issues getting wires to where they needed to be.

It's sad that you haven't taken any records/pics diuring disassembly of your car, Bali...,  ???

that would definitely help now.  :(

Well, see the different restoration processes described here on the homepage.
In general you re-assemble a car from inside out.
I.e.
you start with the insulation mats, wiper linkage, wiring harness, heater/blower unit and so on. Just the more inside it is (like wiper linkage), the earlier you put it in again.

Thank you for your reply.
I have taken lot of photos and videos.
I can see where all the things go. But the sequence is not very clear.
Things like whether the wiring goes before the blower heater , steering column etc.
From your response it has come clear.
When I removed the wiring harness , I cut out the grommets. Now , I assume to thread the wiring loom I will have to remove all the plugs and reassemble. After wiring harness, wiper linkage, heater blower, air ducts, air flow controls, steering column, ignition switch, instruments ( speedo etc.).
Does this sound right.
I will appreciate your help.
