Just a few other tips for anybody restoring steering wheels,
1---remove wheel from car.
2---lightly sand whole wheel with wet @ dry paper about 120-200,dont rub to hard so not to damage grooves.
3---Fill all cracks , holes ,etc, with filler .Using a epoxi glue filler has a couple of problems, it is very hard so its harder
to sand and get the required finish ,not like ordinary fiber glass body filler that has very good sanding qualities, and the epoxi
is not as acceptable to some paints when painting.
4---Sand the filled wheel with about 220-300 until whole wheel is filled and smooth, may require 2 gos at this.
5---clean whole wheel with a paint prep degreaser.
6---1st coat using-- acrylic primer surfacer-- whole wheel about 2 or more thin coats until wheel is completely smooth,
about 4 minutes between coats.
7---After about 30 minutes sand with 320-400 wet @ dry until smooth,---.
8---Now paint 2 coats with colour about 4-5 minutes between coats
9---Wait about 10minutes then finish with 2 or 3 coats of clear about 4 minutes between coats.
10--- the next day can cut and polish with Meguiars etc if you are really particular, this job can be done
in half aday, and only paint on hot, sunny, no wind day,at about 85-90 degress, and only use
same product with the three paints used.
