To elaborate on what Joe said, working around the distributor:
#1 on distributor goes to #1 cylinder (nearest radiator)
#2 on distributor goes to #5 cylinder
#3 on distributor goes to #3 cylinder
#4 on distributor goes to #6 cylinder (nearest windshield)
#5 on distributor goes to #2 cylinder
#6 on distributor goes to #4 cylinder
