What do you call clips in convertible top cover??
« on: April 29, 2020, 21:00:49 »
Hello all...as I prep my car for new paint, I'm reminded of when I went to replace the chrome trim on the aluminum convertible top cover years ago...I remember there were some clips that held the trim in place but I've since lost them...what were those called, and where do I buy them? Any guidance most appreciated! Thanks...R/ Joe

Are these the ones you are missing?

There is no special name for them.  Mercedes simply calls them a "clip".  The part number is 113-988-01-78, and you can still go to your local dealership to buy them, as they're still readily available.  A total of 12 are required.  Simply take the part number to your dealership, and ask them to order 12 of that part number.  Alternatively, you can google the part number and several places that sell them in the U.S. will come up in the results.  However, while shopping do keep a watch on the price.  (Far too many places will overcharge for them).  They retail for $2.00 each and wholesale for $1.60 each.  Essentially, if you're being charged more than $2.00 per clip, less shipping and tax, then look elsewhere.

Thank you! You guys are awesome! Every time I close the boot cover, the trim drops a bit without these clips...I think I'll also look for a new MB Tex and padding for the boot cover as well, since both are coming off for the repaint...
