OK, this might be a stupid question, but I have a 1965 230 SL (European specs) with a metal "8 spoke" cooling fan. It's been on it since at least the early 80's. Fan does not make any loud noises at any high speeds, like some have mentioned in this forum. I was wondering if a plastic "9" spoke would be better, due to it being less weight, and thus being less of a drag on the drive belt/engine crank ? Or am I just better off having the metal version? I'm in the process of tending to the coolant system by replacing the water pump, thermostat , belts, and fan clutch (all because they are the original parts, minus the belts).
Thanks for any insight, Mark
