Bizarre auxiliary fuse box

Both channels are linked... Seems odd to do this. I wanted to use it as a constant and switched ignition aux power supply. I assumed there was some metal caught behind it.

If you look underneath the new one the poles aren't connected whereas they are on mine...

Is only one side connected or both sides?
If one side only - one power source to two circuits. Would work maybe for fog lights, left and right.

It is common to find these connected in this way. However, I believe they are made both ways. One version with a common power source and the other version isolated.

It definitely flummoxed me for a bit as I has just renewed the wiring harness and put this in at the same time with both a permanent and ignition switched input. This resulted in the switched ignition curcuit being live as soon as I connected the battery. Unfortunately I pulled the instrument cluster out thinking that I had made a mistake there.
I'll get one with 2 channels in and 2 out as I want the radio to turn off with the ignition but I have an auto aerial. All to be installed soon!
Thanks for all the comments
