Hasn't run in 24 years
« on: August 14, 2020, 00:43:34 »
My 1966 230SL hasn't ran for 24 years. It was running when parked back in 1996. I want to spin the crankshaft and check the compression. If the mechanical fuel injection system is gummed up with old fuel, can I damage the fuel injection system when I spin the crankshaft? Thanks in advance, Jack.

I would suspect that the electric fuel pump is stuck, but I would pull the fuse for it so you do not circulate dirty fuel to the IP just in case it still runs. Pull all the spark plugs and squirt a little lube in the cylinders.

I would turn the engine over by hand before putting power ti it.
