Speedo removal from manual gearbox & gasket sealant query
« on: August 10, 2020, 12:32:50 »
Hi all,

Just stripping down my gearbox. My plan is to check everything over emchanically and replace all the seals.  I am struggling to find any direction on how to strip down and remove the speedo shaft from it's housing.  I assume it taps out from the bottom upwards, is this correct?

Also, what are people recommending for sealant for my new gaskets? Ie.  What sealant would you recommend between the speedo casing that main gearbox casing. I know some people dont use any sealant but just seems strange not applying anything between new gaskets and castings.
