To follow on from the recent posts on blueprints and technical drawings, here's a frame dimension chart that may be useful for restorers.

Interesting dimensional drawing that it has some + and - on the width dimensions but not from front to rear.

Thanks Alfred, I didn't realise it was already there.
Regarding the tolerances it seems this Tru-Way chart is based on the original MB diagram, which includes tolerances on some, but not all, dimensions, plus some additional diagonal measurements added by Tru-Way. Their instructions state "For practical purposes a 1/8" tolerance is recommended on most dimensions". That is more than 3 mm. I think the MB factory would have been building tighter than that.

W113s were the last truly hand built and hand finished cars that Mercedes manufactured.  One of the reasons for the stamped body numbers on the hood, hardtop and soft top lid are that these aluminum panels had to be individually fitted to their assigned body shell prior to being separated from their assigned shell during the prep and paint process before being reunited during final assembly.  The edges of the hood, soft top lid and trunk lid all had to be trimmed and filed down to fit the body shell to which they were to be installed.  Thus the hood of my car, for example,  won't necessarily fit properly on your car. Neither will the trunk lid or soft top lid.
