Sacrelege?
« on: October 02, 2020, 01:47:07 »
I am not normally a detail freak but for some reason on my W113 I have become one. I was pretty happy my automatic transmission still had it’s original seal on the pressure adjustment screw. It made it through restoration only to Get clipped off while installing the transmission.

I ordered a few new seals but unfortunately the only seal pliers I have are not Mercedes issue.

Wow. That is very detailed! I wouldn't worry about that funny looking emblem. :) Just the fact you have the sealed wire is pretty impressive.

In my mind's eyes I see 30 years from now a group of petrolheads are trying to figure out how a BMW emblem ended up on MB transmission. They would make all kinds of stories...

If I saw that it would creat all soughts of doubts in my mind. I think I would prefer it if, as is normal, the seal was absent.

Pat, I am sure you could spend a few hours working on the jaws of your vice-grips with a Dremel tool and engraver's tool to make a MB seal tool !   :) :)

Joe,
I was just thinking, “I wonder if the jaws in my seal pliers are removable?  I have a lathe and a mill...”

Thanks !!
I've really never read or heard about it.
I wish I looked at the Anthracite 280 SL I used to own. It was very "untouched".
Take care,
