Clutch lines
« on: November 24, 2020, 22:40:13 »
My 1964 230 SL had extensive floor replacement, including removal of the clutch lines from master to slave cylinder. and I am left without any idea of where new replacement lines are supposed to run. Does anyone have a schematic? Even a verbal description would help. Thanks!
Bill

I do not have a manual, so I’m not sure if this helps.

Hello Bill, I'm working on same issue at the moment but mine is a 280SL and there are differences so I'm not sure I can help much. SLS has some very nice expanded diagrams of parts such as these that you may find helpful.  See:
https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/de/25-26-kupplung-4-gg-getriebe-25-a-kupplung-manuell-mechanik-hydraulik-c-3_2348_62

For what its worth, on the 280SL there is a hard line from the master cylinder through the front floorboard, then a hose - like a brake hose, from the end of that hard line to the slave cylinder.

Good luck, Lee

Thank you both, Peter and Leester! Lee, can you tell me where that hard line goes (high or low?) through the front floorboard, and what that connection looks like? I imagine there must be a grommet of some sort where hard and soft lines meet. For all the many Pagoda photos I've seen, that view is not one of them!

Hi again! I just located an excellent website with 18 minutes of superb restoration photos. It shows photos of the clutch lines at 8:36 and 8:49 elapsed time. Link below:

Here are a couple of photos, inside and out (1965).
The part number I have for the lower grommet is 110 997 14 81 but it's an old parts book so don't necessarily trust that.

For your info, here is a photo from a few years ago when I had my floor pans replaced.
